Online Safety

Keeping children safe when using technology both at home and in school is vital, which is the reason why e-safety is taught as part of our Computing and PSHE curriculums throughout school. Knowledge and understanding is further enhanced by participation in events throughout the year such as Anti-Bullying Week and Safer Internet Day.

At Westoe Crown, we are delighted to play an active part in keeping our children safe online.

As a school community, we have a good knowledge and understanding of the risks facing children when using online, digital technology, but we also recognise the significant benefits of being able to access digital technology, placing safety at the forefront of our minds.

Use this page to stay up to date with technological changes and discover how to mitigate any new risks that emerge as a result of this ever-changing digital world.

What is Online Safety?

Online Safety encompasses Internet technologies and electronic communications.

It highlights the need to educate pupils about the benefits and risks of using technology and provides safeguards and awareness for users to enable them to control their online experience.

The Schools’ Online Safety Policy reflects the need to raise awareness of the safety issues associated with electronic communications as a whole.

Effective Online Safety provisions must include:

– Responsible ICT use by all staff and students;

– Education of all staff, students, governors and parents;

– Implementation of our Online Safety Policy;

– Safe and secure internet provision and monitoring.

Our Online Safety Policy has been written by the school to outline the process and procedures adopted within Westoe Crown to keep pupils, staff and visitors in school safe. This can be downloaded in the ‘Policies’ section of this website.
