As part of our celebrations for Black History Month, Year 6 have been exploring the work and artistic style of Black artist Reginald (Reggie) Laurent.
Inspired by his unique style, the children have been developing their own artistic skills, experimenting with different techniques and using their creativity to produce their own wonderful pieces of artwork. They have worked incredibly hard throughout the project, showing fantastic enthusiasm, dedication and a real willingness to challenge themselves.
This project has provided a valuable opportunity for the children to learn more about Black artists, celebrate their contributions to the world of art and recognise the importance of diversity and representation. Through their artwork, the children have explored how art can be used to express ideas, share stories and celebrate different cultures and experiences.
As part of our work with Show Racism the Red Card, we continue to promote the importance of equality, respect and celebrating our differences. We hope that this project has encouraged the children to appreciate diversity, challenge racism and understand that everyone deserves to be treated fairly.
